Four “Must Know” Facebook Page Features for Solo Entrepreneurs
Facebook Training How-To Article
Facebook has added some key features that will have solopreneurs and small business owners even more excited about their pages…
1. Page Notifications
You can receive notifications of the activity on your business page to your email. This is a great help to the busy business owner who might not have time to check their page several times a day to look for comments and posts needing responses. Remember timely responses are an important part of engaging and building relationships.
To set the notifications button, click on the “Edit Page” button in the upper right corner of the screen when on your Wall.

Then click on “Your Settings.” Most likely it’s already set to “on” automatically with the page upgrade, but it’s good to double check!

2. Visibility to Page Owners / Admins
It is now possible to feature the owner [or administrator(s)] of your business page. A benefit to the solo entrepreneur in highlighting yourself on your business page is you tie your face to your business…people like to know the person behind the business, especially since you are synonymous with the business.
The choice is entirely yours if you want to share that you “own” your business page (or if there are other people in your business who are involved in your Facebook presence). Note that one possible outcome of adding this level of visibility is you may receive more friend requests to your personal profile, so be prepared for that. It is important to point out that, with or without this visibility, your business page and personal profile are still separate. Fans to your page are not made friends of your profile and vice versa.
To show the page owner(s), go to Edit Page > Featured > Add or Edit Featured Page Owners and select yourself to be feature on your page.

You will then be featured on your Wall as a page owner.

3. Featured Favorite Pages
Adding favorite pages to your page has been around for a long time but it just got a much needed upgrade: you can select which of your favorite pages you’d like to feature. Prior to this upgrade, the list of your favorite pages were displayed at random; with featured favorites you can give visibility to select pages. This is a cool way for the solopreneur to give recognition to the other small business owners they partner and work with. Whether you’re a B2C or B2B company, none of us are truly solo!
This is also great way to motivate another business page to promote your business as well. If you become featured on another fan page, your listing will have a link directly back to your fan page.
To make a favorite page a featured page, go to Edit Page > Featured > Likes and select the pages you want to feature. You can Like as many pages as you’d want, and feature up to 5.

4. Posting as Your Page
Wouldn’t it be great if you could post on other business pages as your business page in order to get the added exposure and links directly back to your page?
You can choose to engage on other business pages or with customers on that page as your business (rather than you-the-individual). This helps drive traffic to your Facebook business page, growing your audience and likers, because people can click right to your page from your post.

To post as your page, you go to Account > Use Facebook as Page and click Switch (this is in the upper blue bar from anywhere on Facebook). Remember to toggle back to yourself when you want to take things back to you-the-individual!
You can also switch back and forth from the Wall of your page.

A word of caution here…it’s tempting to post on super popular pages as your page in an effort to get more eyeballs, which could cross the line over to spam. Just keep in mind the intention of adding value whenever you post to avoid looking like a spammer, a valuable Facebook Training lesson!
